Join us to save one of the last great expanses of Pinelands wilderness areas yet to be added to the roster of protected public lands.
The forest, named for the pristine Pole Bridge Branch stream, is home to wildlife found almost nowhere else on earth, like Pine Barrens Tree-frogs, Northern Pine Snakes, Barred Owls, and Red-Shouldered Hawks. These expansive lands serve as a haven for people and wildlife against the mega-city forming up and down the East Coast. This forest is part of the natural resources that protect our health, our clean air, our clean water, and a space we can truly breathe in.
In spite of all these benefits, a scheme has formed to designate this pristine forest as a "redevelopment area", which will allow it to be bulldozed and replaced with retirement condos, even though this area has been in its natural condition for thousands of years. You can make a difference by signing the petition and attending in-person meetings to demand the repeal of this so-called redevelopment area and demand that the forest be permanently protected.
This is our last chance to protect one of the great remaining forests of the East Coast.
The Pole Branch Forest is located in Burlington County New Jersey, Pemberton Township. It is within the Pinelands National Reserve Area, but not fully protected by its rules.
